Thanksgiving Tablescape Tips
Now that the fall temps are finally here (PTL I thought they were never going to arrive!), I’m officially in the autumn mood. I’ll confess, it’s been so hot that I’ve procrastinated putting out my fall decor because I just wasn’t feeling it. Also, who wants to break a serious sweat just setting out some pumpkins?!
But with Thanksgiving and Friendsgiving just around the corner, I thought I’d share a few tips for decorating the table:
Add texture with patterns.
Plaid is such a fall staple, why not incorporate it into your table decor? You don’t have to spend a small fortune on an expensive tablecloth that you’ll only use once a year…and let’s be real, some plaid colors and patterns go out of style quickly. The plaid you see here on my table is actually two blanket scarves I found in the Target Dollar Spot for $7 each. Bonus: I can actually wear them later. Score!
Height. Height. Height.
I can’t stress enough how much adding just a little height will transform your table! You don’t want to go so high that people can’t see each other, so make sure those higher elements are in between seats where your guests still have a clear view. Especially on long, narrow tables, this trick will help you squeeze more elements into your centerpieces. Which leads me to my third tip, how do you get the height?
Get creative with what you already have!
If you look closely at this tablescape, you’ll notice that pillar candle stands and cake plates have been re-purposed to be pumpkin holders. It’s time to think outside the box! What do you have around your house that you could use to get a little height? I’ve also used mini cupcake stands as pillar candle holders…the sky is the limit with your imagination!
