This is an event that has literally been 17 years in the making!
I grew up on FRIENDS in the 90s. I still remember having a finale viewing party at my house back in 2004 and crying as we said goodbye to our 6 favorite friends. I had even been planning my own FRIENDS themed 40th birthday party (The One Where Jamie Turns 40, obvs) for several years now, but when that got ruined last year because of Covid, I was crushed. So when they finally announced the reunion special, I knew it was time to resurrect my birthday party dreams and turn it into a reunion party to remember!
From the Central Perk coffee station to the Vodka Chanberry specialty cocktail and Monica’s Mockolate Cake, every tiny detail of this party tells a story of the best show ever.
But my absolute favorite element of this party was finding a close replica of the ever adored infamous orange couch. I’ve literally been on the hunt for a similar couch for YEARS. A few weeks ago I came across someone selling this couch on Facebook marketplace, and on a whim I messaged her to randomly ask if she would be interested in renting it out instead…and to my surprise she said YES! To say I was overjoyed was an understatement! This was the piece de resistance to this whole vibe.
A lot of these party decor elements have been collected over the years…all the way down to the vintage DVD set circa the early 2000s, but if they are available I have linked them below!
Confession: After the party I fell in love with the couch so much that I wound up buying it instead of just renting it, so now I’ll be creating my own little Central Perk in my basement studio. Could I BE anymore happy with how this turned out?!
