Ah, I love all those rich holiday traditions...decorating the tree, sending out family Christmas cards, late night trips to see Christmas lights, and of course the annual all-girls Elf movie viewing party! What? You don't do that every year? You're missing out!
My sweet friend Shae has been hosting this party for years, and it's one of the holiday festivities I look forward to the most! Partially because all of us grown women show up in our pajamas and eat our weight in foods that would only be acceptable to the elves, but also because we have a jolly good time quoting the movie line by line. It never gets old. This year I had the pleasure of helping my friend pull together all her adorably themed decor ideas!
Confession: we may or may not have stolen Shae's kiddos snowball fight toys and used them for decor, because everyone knows how good Buddy the Elf is at making snowballs!
"10am tomorrow...Santa's coming.
SANTA!!!!! I KNOW HIM!"
"I passed through the seven levels of the Candy Cane forest, through the sea of swirly twirly gum drops, and then I walked through the Lincoln Tunnel."
"You stink. You smell like beef and cheese!
You don't smell like Santa."
(not pictured: Shae's amazing beef and cheese pizza breads because they were still in the oven. I seriously look forward to eating like 10 of those every year. So. Good.)
“I planned out our whole day. First we’ll make snow angels for a two hours, then we’ll go ice skating, then we’ll eat a whole roll of Tollhouse cookie dough as fast as we can, and then we’ll snuggle.”
And this last one wasn't an exact quote from the movie, but let's be real...most of us at the party have toddlers at home, so sometimes mama needs a little extra special treat. ;)
I tried to get a better pic of the ceiling, but just couldn't get a good angle...but I wish you could see all the beautiful paper work Shae cut on her Silhouette. Lots of lovely snowflakes and paper chains, just like the makeover Buddy gave the department store overnight in the movie!
Thanks Shae for letting me share your affinity for elf culture...even if I am a cotton headed ninny muggins. :)
